A Strategy for Proving Riemann Hypothesis
نویسندگان
چکیده
A strategy for proving Riemann hypothesis is suggested. The vanishing of the Rieman Zeta reduces to an orthogonality condition for the eigenfunctions of a non-Hermitian operator D+ having the zeros of Riemann Zeta as its eigenvalues. The construction of D+ is inspired by the conviction that Riemann Zeta is associated with a physical system allowing conformal transformations as its symmetries. The eigenfunctions of D+ are analogous to the so called coherent states and in general not orthogonal to each other. The states orthogonal to a vacuum state (which has a negative norm squared) correspond to the zeros of the Riemann Zeta. The induced metric in the space V of states which correspond to the zeros of the Riemann Zeta at the critical line Re[s] = 1/2 is hermitian and hermiticity requirement actually implies Riemann hypothesis. Conformal invariance in the sense of gauge invariance allows only the states belonging to V. Riemann hypothesis follows also from a restricted form of a dynamical conformal invariance in V. ⋆ I want to express my deep gratitude to Dr. Matthew Watkins for providing me with information about Riemann Zeta and for generous help, in particular for reading the earlier versions of the work and pointing out several inaccuracies and errors. I am also grateful for Prof. Masud Chaichian and Doc. Claus Montonen for encouraging comments and help. Present address: Kadermonkatu 16, 10900, Hanko, Finland. Email: [email protected]

A Further Step in the Proof of Riemann Hypothesis
A further step in the strategy for proving Riemann hypothesis proposed earlier(M. Pitkänen, math.GM/0102031) is suggested. The construction of D is inspired by the conviction that Riemann Zeta is associated with a physical s...
متن کاملQuantum Knots and Riemann Hypothesis
In this paper we propose a quantum gauge system from which we construct generalized Wilson loops which will be as quantum knots. From quantum knots we give a classification table of knots where knots are one-to-one assigned with an integer such that prime knots are bijectively assigned with prime numbers and the prime number 2 corresponds to the trefoil knot. Then by considering the quantum kno...
متن کاملThe Collatz 3n+1 Conjecture Is Unprovable
In this paper, we show that any proof of the Collatz 3n + 1 Conjecture must have an infinite number of lines. Therefore, no formal proof is possible. We also discuss whether the proof strategy in this paper has any promise for proving that the Riemann Hypothesis is also unprovable.
متن کاملLocal Extrema of the Ξ(t) Function and The Riemann Hypothesis
In the present paper we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition to prove the Riemann hypothesis in terms of certain properties of local extrema of the function Ξ(t) = ξ( 1 2 + it). First, we prove that positivity of all local maxima and negativity of all local minima of Ξ(t) form a necessary condition for the Riemann hypothesis to be true. After showing that any extremum point of Ξ(t) is a ...
متن کاملThe Extended Riemann Hypothesis and its Application to Computation
Many of Hilbert’s 23 famous problems are not of a prove or disprove nature; rather, they are open-ended, “of a purely investigative nature,” [12] and may never be answered to satisfaction. One of the best examples of this is the sixth problem, that of the axiomatization of physics. Hilbert said, “The investigations on the foundations of geometry suggest the problem: To treat in the same manner,...
